Find Amazon SKUs That Have Stock but No Active Listing

Inventory sitting in a fulfillment center without a buyable listing earns nothing and still accrues storage fees. Amazon shows a stranded-inventory view in Seller Central, but a simple cross-check of two reports catches the wider set of problems too: suppressed, inactive or deleted listings that still have units on hand.

The two files you need

  1. An inventory export that lists every SKU with units in Amazon's fulfillment network, for example the FBA Manage Inventory report or an inventory health report. Keep the SKU column and the available/fulfillable quantity column.
  2. An active listings export, for example the Active Listings Report from Seller Central's inventory reports. This lists SKUs that are currently live.

Report names and menus differ slightly between marketplaces and change over time; any export that gives "SKUs with stock" and "SKUs that are active" works.

Step by step

  1. In the inventory export, filter out SKUs with zero available units, so you only compare SKUs that actually have stock. Save it as .xlsx or .csv.
  2. If a SKU appears on several rows (for example once per condition or fulfillment center), remove repeats with Remove Duplicates, matching on the SKU column.
  3. Open Compare Excel Files. Upload the inventory file as File A and the active listings file as File B.
  4. Pick SKU (the column may be called seller-sku or sku) as the key in both files and run the comparison.
  5. In the downloaded report, the sheet named "Only in" + your inventory file name is your list: SKUs with stock but no active listing. Every column from the inventory file is kept, so you can sort by quantity and fix the highest-value SKUs first.

What to do with the list

  • Listing suppressed or inactive: check the listing's status and fix the flagged issue (often price, image, or a missing attribute), then relist.
  • Listing deleted or SKU renamed: relist under the original SKU, or create a removal order if you no longer sell the product.
  • Genuinely discontinued: decide between liquidation, removal or disposal before long-term storage fees apply.

Run it the other way too

Swap the files (active listings as File A, inventory as File B) to find active listings with no FBA stock. These are listings likely to go out of stock or already showing as unavailable, which is useful for reorder planning.

Both exports usually contain your full catalog. The comparison runs in your browser, so the files are not uploaded anywhere.
